My sewing machine hasn't been getting quite as much of a workout lately as I like, but I have been keeping busy.
The first project I completed in 2012 was a quilted table runner for my in-laws. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, but we all got very sick after our mid-December Disney trip and it knocked me flat, which put me behind my already tight schedule for sewing presents. I finished it in January and we got it in the mail basically for my MIL's birthday!
Next, I crocheted a scarf for my MIL for her birthday gift:
My mom and I each received e-readers for Christmas. I got the Nook Color and she got the Kindle Touch. Fortunately, I purchased a pattern for an e-reader cover from Birdiful Stitches that contains components for every e-reader out there. It called for three Fat Quarters, and we never found FQs that we liked, so we ended up purchasing 1/2 yard of three different fabrics that worked together that we really liked and just alternated which fabric got used for which pattern component.
Here's hers:
And mine:
Right now I'm working on a birthday present for Kaity's cousin, and then I'll get cracking on Easter and Disney custom sewing for Kaity. Hope my sewing machine is ready for action!
